Apologetics:

Alisa Childers

As a lifelong church-goer, follower of Jesus, and former CCM recording artist with the Dove award-winning group ZOEgirl, I experienced a period of profound doubt about my faith in my mid-thirties. I felt as though I had been tossed in a stormy ocean of uncertainty with no life jacket or lifeboat in sight. I didn’t know where to find answers to my questions, or if answers existed at all. Did I have to accept it all on some kind of blind faith?  I began to investigate my faith intellectually—I took seminary classes and read everything I could get my hands on. This began my journey from unreasoned doubt into a vibrant, rational, and informed faith.

Whether you’re a seeker, a doubting Christian, or strong Christian wanting to become better at articulating your faith, I pray that this website will be a lifeboat for you. So, jump in and let’s tackle the tough questions together.

Mike Winger of BibleThinker

Mike Winger is an associate pastor at Hosanna Christian Fellowship in Bellflower, CA.

BibleThinker is a ministry dedicated to equipping people to think and live biblically. There are three main areas of teaching that we focus on, and these are not listed in any particular order.

  • Teaching accurate theology based on exegeting the text of the Bible and confronting false teachings which spread so quickly and easily in a biblically unaware world.  This is done both topically and systematically teaching the Bible.
  • Defending the biblical/Christian worldview and answering skeptics. This is done both through topical videos and as issues arise in the text of a verse-by-verse teaching.
  • Applying the Bible so that we can become true followers of Jesus in not only thinking right but living right. God’s word has more to say about how we are to live than most people realize, this ministry hopes to show people the vast riches of the Bible which is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

Bible Research: Internet Resources for Students of Scripture.

Editor: Michael Marlowe

I created this website in order to publish some material that I thought would be helpful to students of the Bible. Much of the material on the site was either written or edited by me in the past few years. I have also added a few articles by reliable scholars, most of them in the public domain and others by permission. My purpose in putting all this material online is simply to make it available to my fellow-learners at church and to whoever wants it, for the benefit of the body of Christ.

Bible Design Blog

J. Mark Bertrand : Writer of the Blog

I am a novelist, a lecturer, and a typographer. I am a Presbyterian teaching elder and a Southern ex-pat. I am fascinated by pens and paper, printing, books, and anything to do with leather.

FOCUS ON ONE THING AND DO IT WELL.
That’s the philosophy behind Bible Design Blog. Here the focus is on the physical form of the Good Book. I discuss good design with an emphasis on reader-friendly formats, which means elegant layout, opaque paper, and sewn bindings that open flat. The Bible is more than a reference work. It’s meant to be read. Choices made by designers, printers, and bookbinders all influence readability––though their sway usually goes unremarked. Not here.

WHAT IS LECTIO?
Let’s face it, “Bible Design Blog” is a mouthful. And when it’s not busy being a mouthful, it is super literal. This is a blog about the design of, well, Bibles. Ten years later, though, it has become more than that — or at least, it aspires to more. The common theme in all my writing about Bibles has been readability, and so I created Lectio as an umbrella not only for Bible Design Blog but for other projects that may be born from it. So, to sum up: Lectio is the entity, Bible Design Blog is its principal function at this point, and as always, J. Mark Bertrand is the writer.
